The above is an interesting image that nobody really knows the story to. This is significant because it was included in my “Farewell IPY” post.
“Gating” was a popular grief tactic in the olden days of UO, and it carried over to IPY (as did most things, and our guys created many more things all themselves as well).
Essentially, someone would open a gate from an “interesting” area (in this case, a seven or eight tile island in the middle of the ocean – a popular choice) to a populated area, such as Britain bank, and wait until a newbie sauntered through. They would proceed to kill said newbie and recall, stranding them there.
Rolling around on my personal character, I noticed one such gate and could guess exactly what it was. Through I went, to find someone on the other end expecting to nuke a newbie and strand him.
As you can see, it turned out poorly for him.
It was one of the most amusing dirtnaps I made anyone take during IPY — and yes, I stranded him there.

Here’s a story. I did exactly the same thing once, went through a gate and ended up on that or some other small island. To add to it, az jumped the gate too on his god client or possibly I had called a GM and he appeared on the island (don’t remember which). Anyway, I killed the gater and then we talked about it for a while :).

Honestly, it’s been a long ass time. I don’t remember the story behind the rabbit.
The only thing that comes to mind is that possibly I put it down and you snagged it and recalled. But I’m not sure.
Those GoD nights I remember though, I think. Wasn’t that the beginning of the massive roving gank squads?
I hated that shit ><
But I’m glad they played, and glad they enjoyed it. :P
I’d just redesign PvP next time to be more favourable in reaction to very small group tactics, but not to completely disallow large gank squauds.
