Kevin Smith Figures Out The Internet

by Azaroth | June 14th, 2010

That really resonates with me after dealing with IPY (and leading up to dealing with it again). Though I’m a little surprised it took him so long to figure that out, because I’ve been checking him out since I was friends with a comic artist that did a regular comic for his first website back in the late 90′s. So the dude has been around nearly as long as I have, and he’s probably had a hundred times the shit thrown at him.

You can’t really argue or concern yourself with people too much. You always have to remind yourself to be open to constructive criticism from people, but the next troglodyte attempting to troll you will be just around the corner. There’s an endless wave of those people, and you might as well just create and maintain a TrollFAQ and redirect them to it. Defending your honour on the internet and arguing with people is completely pointless.

How can I see Puds and Fatduck mentioned in the same post and not bring this up. Puds dies…

Lol 2 v 1 exp EQ weapon shot.

Is it sad that I’m almost thirty and that still makes me laugh? Answer is yes.

  6. Avernus says:

It was, by far, the most epic 2v2 on IPY. I think they beat Cecil and… the name escapes me.

  7. I couldn’t 2v2 because it was always obvious when my ebolts were doing double damage.

Nothing to do with anything in this post but thought I’d bring our mini rpg discussion back up again. -.-

    • Don’t replay Secret of Mana.

I remember replaying Legend of Zelda: Link To The Past now. I ruined it for myself, because I’m not ten years old anymore and it was incredibly simple to beat.

I knew it wouldn’t be tough or anything, so I didn’t upgrade my 3 AR overalls until the snow town where I could get the golden vest.

      It was still super easy.

Unless you want to try to beat all the bosses without using Sprite’s magic, there’s not a whole lot of point to it. You can just spam all of the bosses out. I haven’t even used a Faerie Walnut yet.

      • I’ve played through SoM at least half a dozen times, probably more than any other fantasy game besides Ogre Battle.

Yes spamming Sprite makes things incredibly easy. Sometimes I play with solo Sprite and just letthe girl and boy die and ignore em.

        • Nothing tops Ogre Battle! I actually logged in my old OB man the other day… I have the PS1 version not the SNES version… and was rolling around on the last battle.

          Fogel Princess
          Fenral Lich
          Slust

Massive over kill unit one shots anything out there. Don’t even need a healer because they kill stuff so fast. 12 x thrust from dragoons, 2 x star light 3 x AoE Magic from the lich… pwned!

God I love that game… I built some pretty sick units in it.

Ogre Battle 64 was alright but it wasn’t as good for me, the story line was great though. Tactics Ogre samething… they need to make more RPG’s like that.. is there even one good strat RPG out there right now?

          • Last time (bout a year ago) that I played thru Ogre, I ended up with every special character, including Galf. I had Aisha, Norn, and Rauny as princesses. I had Warren and Saradin as liches. My teams were so overpowering that I had to constantly use ALI+’s that I bought off of the summonable ‘Toad’ merchant via TICKET.

It wasn’t even fun for the final five maps. And yes I got the 12 zodiacs and 3 mystic treasures as well…

There’s so much to do in that game but Ive mastered it at this point. I still remember rushing home from school on my bike to play when it first game out on SNES.

            Greatest game of all time.

        • Once you get Luna and have the Mana Absorb spell, Sprite never runs out of mana and you can just smoke everything with that one character.

          • Even if a boss isn’t vulnerable to Luna, you’ve got FOUR Faerie Walnuts to replenish your mana. I literally haven’t used one yet throughout the entire game, and my save is just before the Mana Fortress. Maybe it’ll be necessary to use one to beat the last boss?

          • I did in fact need a Faerie Walnut to beat The Mana Beast. But that’s really only because I had to fight Thanatos right before.

          • Mana Beast is sort of a letdown and test of endurance. All it is is the Dryad spell Mana Sword on the hero for 999 swings through the boss’s rotation.

Nothing to do with anything, but if you haven’t read Ted the Caver’s story… go check it out. Kills two hours while you wait for IPY2!

yeah it actually hasn’t been changed since 2001 when the website went up.

Those are two names you never hear about anymore despite having been pretty popular early on in the internet.

It’s getting desperate out here in UO land AZ. Summer time for UO is kind of like the December of the movies box-office, now’s the time for release! Only for you, there’s no competition out there, ask Kevin Smith about it.

Divinity is dead, UOSecondage is actually a good server yet the pvp is generally accepted as lacking in more than one area. Now’s the time for internet action!

Be the UOSecondage with good pvp.

AKA, I’m drunk, out of school, and have no UO to play. What the FUCK?

  12. jamieirl says:

ALSO, did you gais know that the word mana was Hawaiian? It sort of means spiritual power. An example of it is a Hawaiian warrior killing another Hawaiian warrior, the killer would get the losers power, or life force, or what have you. Another example would be a Hawaiian born of nobility, (son/daughter of a king/queen etc..) they would be high in mana.

I saw one of you buttnoses say something about mana and it reminded me. I moved to Hawaii after I started playing UO, eventually took some college classes in Hawaiian history/perspective, and found it interesting that UO (and whatever other nerdy ass roleplaying games that I didn’t play) used the Hawaiian word mana to represent, well, mana. If you think about it’s nerd use and compare it to it’s historical use it makes sense.

    Anyway just a little fun-fact.

  13. Hiro.. You honestly just called UOSA good? wow I hate your face. I logged ontpo Divinity yesterday. T’was a lol fest. There were 26 people online, and apparently the staff felt it necessary to delete 4 million of my gold. One more gain, secret of mana sucks. Play chrono trigger.

  14. Chrono Trigger was epic… frogs music is forever stuck in my head.

My top 10 SNES RPG’s in order:

    10. Lufia II: Rise of the Sinestrels
    9. Breath of Fire
    8. Super Mario RPG
    7. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
    6. Secret of Mana
    5. FF2
    4. Chrono Trigger
    3. FF3
    2. Lufia and the Fortress of Doom
    1. Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen

  15. you forgot secret of mana XD

  16. i’ve been playing Dragon Age: Orgins, I was surprised to find it was the first game in the series. The story plot is so dynamic its almost like there was a game before to build onto that story.

    • I have loved every single bioware rpg ever since kotor…….. except dragon age. It was ok , but overall i just didnt really enjoy it all that much. Perhaps because many of the decisions made in the game i jsut didnt care about. Like the ashes in the temple. It didnt really tell you anything about them , there was no emotional attachment to them. 5 minutes before you make the choice it tells you about them. Then the designers make the choice to defile or not impact the game. Which is cool , but i dont care about these stupid ashes or this npc town that im just not buying. In kotor i cared about the characters , about the world. Same for jade empire and mass effect. Sure they had many choices which did not affect the world (just a morality meter) but when making those choices i actually felt emotionally compelled to go one way or the other. I actually cared. Wherein dragon age its like they just threw a hole bunch of bs into a pot and stirred. 90% of the choices had no real backstory…………i dunno , i just didnt like it that much.

  17. Oxandrolone says:

A hint about Dragon Age: origins – if you want the game to challenge you at all, don’t play as a mage.

I beat it on nightmare my first time through and only died in a couple of places. Typically only where there wasn’t enough room to fucking blast everything to hell with a Storm of the Century.

The final boss killed me once and that demon guy in a house for the best one hander, Graxx-kang or something, killed me like five times.

It is pretty fun though blasting the shit out of armies of monsters with inferno or SotC. Also don’t get tempted to do the extremely easy infinite gold cheat, it ruins it!

  18. Cheats ruin games unless it’s an MMO.

Then it’s just a contest to see who can CHEAT HARDER!
